8CP Goals & Outputs

UNFPA’s 8CP (Eighth Country Programme 2012 - 2016) is aligned with core strategies under the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF, 2012-2016), and supports UNDAF Pillar 7: Gender Equality and Women’s Advancement as the lead agency, and Pillar 3: Social Services for Human Development—addressing national priorities directed at a systems approach to enhancing the Health Sector, expanding coverage and accessibility for vulnerable and marginalized groups.

UNFPA, Bangladesh contributes to the other UNDAF Pillars through interagency support and collaboration with its UN partners.  The UNDAF and 8CP are also in alignment with the GoB Sixth Five-Year Plan 2011-2015 (6FYP), focusing on socioeconomic and human development, sector development, financing strategies, and geo-strategic approaches for Bangladesh’s growth and development.

UNFPA has also synchronized its 8CP with the Programme of Action (POA) adopted by the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held at Cairo in 1994; as well as the Paris and Accra Declarations on Aid Effectiveness; and the Beijing Platform of Action on women’s social and economic development.
